As you may have noticed from the colorful leaves and shorter days, it's autumn in Southeast Missouri. That's right - football, bonfires, hoodies and, very soon, Halloween!

If you haven't jumped into fall decorating yet this year, we know where to find exactly what you need for a show-stopping front lawn. If you haven't checked it out, head to the local farmers market. There are two in town: The Riverfront Market open on Saturday mornings and the Cape Farmers Market in the West Park Mall parking lot on Thursday afternoons.

The health benefits of regular cycling include: increased cardiovascular fitness; increased muscle strength and flexibility; improved joint mobility; decreased stress levels; improved posture and coordination; strengthened bones and decreased body fat levels! I feel healthier just talking about it. But the 18th Annual Tour de Cape is scheduled for October 6 in Downtown Cape. Join the ride or come and see the participants take off at 8:00 a.m. to enjoy the gorgeous fall colors on courses ranging from 15, 30, 60 and 100 miles in length.

Did you know Missouri vines saved the French wine industry in the eighteen seventies? Tiny bugs were ravaging France’s vineyards, destroying nearly forty percent of the country’s grapevines. A few helpful Missourians sent about four hundred thousand vine cuttings to France because our vines were resistant to the bugs. France recovered from the infestation, and it was all thanks to Missouri vines.

So take a weekend to pay tribute to this wonderful vine by visiting our local wineries.

Plato stated that, “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.”

If you enjoy a tranquil, picnic-under-the sky type atmosphere, then Tunes at Twilight is the perfect place for you. Make your way to Ivers Square on September seventh and fourteenth for the final fall event after that it won’t be back until next spring.
