St. Francis Healthcare System will offer free skin cancer screenings on April 27.
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, affecting millions of Americans every year. About one in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime.
The free skin cancer screenings will take place Saturday, April 27, from 8 a.m. to noon at Cape Radiation Oncology at Entrance 6 of St. Francis Medical Center. Appointments are required.

The SEMO MS Walk will take place at 9:00 am on Saturday, April 27, at Capaha Park, Shelter #1.
The walk will raise funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society for research for finding a cure for MS. Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic and often debilitating disease that impacts the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves.
Come join us to connect with others and walk toward a cure for MS, raise awareness, and also celebrate those living with the disease. Come for food, fun, raffles, and more!

The Uptown Jackson Revitalization Organization will host “Jackson in Bloom” on April 27.
The event focuses on springtime landscaping and gardening, earth-friendly products and services, pets, and kids’ activities. Food and landscaping vendors will be on hand, and a variety of flowers and plants will be available at the Jackson High School Plant Sale. The 2nd Annual Rotary’s “Pups in Bloom” dog show will take place at 11 a.m.
The spring celebration will take place on Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. around the Jackson Courthouse Square in Uptown Jackson.
Join us for Kids Day at the Museum: Propaganda Posters of WW1 and WW2 on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 10am to 2pm at The Stars and Stripes National Museum and Library. This FREE interactive learning event will explore the significance of propaganda posters during World War I and World War II.
Activities will include: an interactive poster gallery featuring posters used by the U.S. and Europe; a hands-on workshop where kids can put their creativity to work and design their own posters to take home; and discussion sessions that will bring to life the stories behind some of the most influential propaganda posters.

Saturday, April 27, is the Federal Aviation Administration's Drone Safety Day. Drone Safety Day is designed to promote safe drone operation, certification, responsibility and awareness.
Drone Safety Day was first promoted in Southeast Missouri last year. Southeast Missouri State University’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems (Drone) program is again partnering with the Southeast Missouri Modelers Association (SEMMA), the remote control (RC) hobby organization in this region to provide fun activities and a way for drone enthusiasts to connect.
Drone Safety Day will be held at Galaxy RC Park on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to noon. The event will be held at Galaxy Park, which is the RC airfield located at 440 Gizmo Lane, just off of highway 177 North of Cape.

The SEMO Iris Society will sponsor a Flower Show on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the West Park Mall, JC Penny Court.
Any individual may enter iris in the show and there is no charge to attend or exhibit flowers. Entries must be delivered to the mall Friday, April 26, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. or Saturday between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Judging begins at 10:00 a.m. and no entries will be accepted after that time.
Flowers will be on display Saturday, April 27 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 28, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. This is an American Iris Society affiliated flower show.
The Crisp Museum will host an Infinity Fidget Cube event on April 27 and April 28.
Guests will make a colorful, two-handed infinity fidget cube featuring eight cubes that can be flipped, turned, and folded in fun ways. Pre-registration is required and supplies are provided. The event is free and best for ages 8 and older.

There will be free food, fun, and fellowship for all on the corner of Fountain and Themis as we celebrate our Red Door Jubilee Center and share in joy and love with our community!
The Southeast Department of Music is pleased to present Opera Scenes on April 28.
The program will feature selections from iconic operas such as Don Giovanni, Cosi Fan Tutti, The Bartered Bride, and the Mikado. Some scenes will be presented in Italian, and some in English. Students will also include monologues from class.
Opera Scenes will take place on Sunday, April 28, at 3 p.m. in the Shuck Music Recital Hall on Southeast’s River Campus.
