I'm an extreme and unapologetic NPR fan and was reminded of why this week when NPR Music announced the winner of this year's Tiny Desk Contest.  The Tiny Desk series is NPR's charming display of stripped-down performances behind the office desk of NPR Music's Bob Boilen. The series has included very famous musicians like Adele, Neko Case, and Chris Stapleton. For the second year in a row NPR music put on a contest for entrants to submit their own video of original music for consideration to be brought in to perform at the tiny desk. This year's winner, a musician by the name of Gaelynn Lea, had a completely breathtaking entry.

M83 announced a new album, the first since the 2011 release Hurry Up, We're Dreaming. It's titled Junk and the first single off of it, titled "Do It, Try It" runs the gamut of classic M83 tropes. Junk is set to be released on April 8th.

Left of the Dial airs Friday night from 9-11 and Saturday from noon-2.
