It’s likely the electronic retro-pop sheen of the band TEEN won't convey the image of a lonely cabin in Kentucky, but it was in this sort of retreat that Teeny Lieberson wrote many of the songs on their new album, Love Yes. References to the '80s are immediate and obvious but it's also something very contemporary and wonderful.

Thanks to the encyclopedic knowledge of Pitchfork I now know that the Russian band Pinkshinyultrablast are doing a purposeful impersonation of the Chicago band astrobrite. The orchestrated chaos of it got me to thinking about Shoegazer Metal, and this primer on the genre seems as good of a way to venture down that path as any.

Left of the Dial airs Friday nights from 9:00 to 11:00 and Saturdays from noon to 2:00 on KRCU.
