1A Across America: Could This Colorado Senate Seat Turn Blue?

Sen. Cory Gardner (R-CO) arrives at the U.S. Capitol to attend the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump.
Sen. Cory Gardner (R-CO) arrives at the U.S. Capitol to attend the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump.

One of the nation’s most vulnerable Republican Senators is up for re-election this year, and he’s in for an uphill battle to keep his seat.

Colorado’s Cory Gardner won his first race in 2014 by less than two points. Now, he’s competing in a state that went for Hillary Clinton by five points in 2016 and where Democrats took all five statewide seats in 2018.

Critics say he’s too close with President Donald Trump, which could be a problem in a state where 57 percent of the state disapproves of how the president’s doing.

In this installment of 1A Across America, we ask Colorado voters what they’re thinking. Is this a seat Democrats can win?
