Keith Pickens has joined the Southeast Missouri men's basketball program as an assistant coach, after spending the last two years in the same capacity at Missouri State.

Redhawk student-athletes had a strong performance in the classroom this semester. Seventy-one percent of Southeast Missouri's student-athlete population recorded a 3.0 or better grade point average during the Spring 2018 term.

A total of 51 student-athletes posted a perfect 4.0 GPA, while 85 others had GPAs above 3.5. As a whole athletic department, the Redhawks achieved a 3.15 GPA for the spring term.

In all, nine different teams finished with a team GPA above 3.1.

Southeast Athletics

Southeast Missouri right fielder Justin Dirden, second baseman Trevor Ezell and right-handed pitcher Carlos Vega were named to the 2018 All-Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Team, the league announced Tuesday. Dirden, Ezell and Vega all earned first-team honors.

Dirden leads the team in total bases (136), walks (29), slugging percentage (.680), RBI (66) and home runs (15). He has played in every game during his first year with the Redhawks.

A total of 49 Southeast Missouri student-athletes received degrees last Saturday during commencement exercises.

Prior to commencement, the graduating Redhawks were honored Friday afternoon at a pre-graduation ceremony held at the University Center. Director of Athletics Brady Barke addressed the attendees before Deja Jones of women's basketball provided remarks.

Anderson, Messex and Tillotson Earn All-OVC Honors

Southeast Missouri center fielder Rachel Anderson, shortstop Sarah Messex and catcher Abby Tillotson were named to the 2018 All-Ohio Valley Conference Team during the league's pre-tournament banquet Tuesday night.

Anderson garnered first-team honors for the second-straight season, while Messex and Tillotson claimed second-team accolades. Anderson became the first Southeast player to earn first-team all-conference honors in back-to-back years since 2007 and 2008.
