Two-Minute Drill: Redhawks Rack Up Academic Awards

The national academic recognition continues to keep rolling in for Redhawks outstanding student-athletes. Last week, the Volleyball program earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award, and this week four more Redhawks teams were recognized for their achievements in the classroom. 

Four male track & field athletes earned United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors for the 2017-18 seasons. Meanwhile, the SEMO women's track & field team also ranked among the USTFCCCA's All-Academic Teams.


The Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics team had a total of 12 individuals receive the Scholastic All-America Award presented by the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association. As a team, the Redhawks recorded a 3.60 GPA in the spring semester alone.


Finally, Southeast Missouri's women's tennis team was honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for its academic achievements.


As a team, SEMO recorded a 3.87 cumulative grade point average during the 2017-18 academic year. Individually, four tennis student-athletes were all named to the ITA All-Academic Team.


The Redhawks Club Membership Drive officially launched this morning, as the SEMO Department of Athletics Co-Sponsored the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce First Friday Coffee. The Redhawks Club is the official booster organization for SEMO Athletics, and contributions provide scholarships and program support for Redhawk student-athletes.
