Saying Goodbye

Cape Chamber

This is my last week working with the Cape Chamber.

I’ve accepted another job opportunity and will be leaving the Chamber, but I’ll be staying in Cape and I can’t imagine we’ll ever leave.

For my last episode, I want to talk about something I haven’t had a chance to discuss before and that’s the people. The people of Cape Girardeau who make this community function. From my co-workers at the Chamber, to the civil servants and business leaders, the educators and entrepreneurs, and so many others, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to work with some of the best people in the world.

I can’t talk about all of them in two minutes, but I want to give a special shout out to a few. John Mehner, the President and CEO of the Cape Chamber, who will be taking over this show starting next week, is an incredible leader. He has quietly spent years making Cape a better place in more ways than any of us will ever know. We are all far better off for the work he has done and continues to do.

The rest of the team at the Chamber, Kim, Dana, Taylor, Michele and Wilma, Janice with MAGNET and the VisitCape team, Brenda, Stacy, Alyssa and Betty, my coworkers, are passionate, smart and dedicated to the work they do. Thank you all for an incredible three years.

Finally, there are so many business leaders that make this community go around. From the solo entrepreneurs to the CEOs of our largest organizations, we all owe you for your hard work and for choosing to do it here.

I’m Shad Burner, thanks for letting me talk business.
