Business Park Grant for City of Cape Girardeau Has Final Hearing

In 2013, the city of Cape Girardeau received a $700,000 Community Development Block Grant--or CDBG,  to turn pastureland into a business park in the Greater Cape Girardeau Area.

Construction concluded for a business park on LaSalle Avenue in Spring of 2015.  After three years, the block grant given to the city of Cape Girardeau had its final hearing on Tuesday. Mayor Harry Rediger said he’s pleased with the progress that’s been made.

“This has been a real win-win for our city, and it will continue to pay dividends as we proceed on through the years,” Rediger said.

He said he looks forward to the park improving the local economy. With Pepsi MidAmerica as a current tenant and meeting CDBG’s requirements, the business park has created 42 jobs.
