If you love an adrenaline rush, Cape Splash is tailor-made for you. Barrel down the 259 foot triple drop slide or, if you’ve got the courage take on the 265 free fall slide. If you’re more interested in getting a tan bask in the sun while the kids enjoy the lazy River and Pirate Ship Playground. Cape Splash is open from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm daily all summer long.
For quieter fun in the sun, check out one of Cape Girardeau’s many parks for everything from fishing to biking and even flowers. Reel in a prize bass at Trail of Tears State Park. Get in your steps on the LaCroix Trail and stop to smell the roses in Capaha Park’s Rose Garden.
Keep the kids from getting bored with a trip to Cape County Park North, Melanina’s Magical Play land offers state of the art playground equipment that’s fully accessible for all children regardless of ability level and the conservation Nature Center is near by – A great place to cool off and discover local wildlife. Plus, the Missouri Conservation Department has a ton of activities going on this summer.
But the most delicious part of a Southeast Missouri summer is fresh produce- tomatoes, green beans, watermelon, and strawberries. Drooling yet? The Farmers Market opens on Thursdays from Noon to five PM in the West Park Mall Parking Lot, and the Riverfront Market is open on Saturday Mornings from 8 am until Noon.
