REGISTER NOW

We encourage our listening community to come together virtually during Halloweek to support public radio in southeast Missouri. Whether you run on a treadmill, jog on a local trail, or walk your dog around the neighborhood, this is a great opportunity for you to celebrate spooky season and the news and music we carry on our airwaves!

This is also a great time for our out-of-town public radio fans to participate in a fundraising event for KRCU without the long drive. If you have friends in the Poplar Bluff (91.3 FM coverage) or Farmington (88.9 FM coverage) areas, be sure to let them know about this event.

All proceeds from the Monster Mash Virtual Dash will go directly to public radio programming in southeast Missouri, which is especially crucial this election year.

This event is sponsored by Natural Health Organic Foods.

Step 1: Register

Registration is $25, and includes a commemorative orange 2020 Monster Mash Dash t-shirt shipped directly to you. Registration is contactless, and can only be done online or by mail. All participants must be registered by Wednesday, Oct. 7 to receive a t-shirt by race week.

Step 2: Receive Package Via Mail

After registering to run/walk, participants will receive a package in the mail which includes our 5K t-shirt and other spooky swag from sponsors. Please note: shipments will begin mid-October.

Step 3: Get Out & Run/Walk!

Set a reminder on your phone during the week of Oct. 25-31, and if you have a running app, map out your route (a 5K is 3.1 miles.) For your convenience, we’ve provided two pre-mapped courses at the LaCroix Recreation Trail in Cape Girardeau - which is flat and paved - and our original course across Southeast’s campus. Before heading out, make sure you’ve got your supplies - phone, water, comfortable shoes - and that you’re well-rested. Remember to stay safe and use your judgement when in the company of others.

Do you need to wear a mask when you run? Here’s a great article from NPR that can help you decide: https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2020/06/27/882866178/masks-and-the-outdoor-exerciser-advice-for-runners-bikers-walkers-hikers

Step 4: Share

Take a photo of yourself before/after the run in your Monster Mash Dash t-shirt, and post it on social media. Tag us - we’re on Instagram @krcupublicradio and Facebook @KRCUFM - and you could be featured on our page!
